From the economic viewpoint, Korca has been one of the most important centers of the regions, where the trade of agricultural products was developed. The key of the economical development of the city of Korca has been its bazaar, where people could find easily different handwork and agricultural products.

In Korca’s bazaar, there had existed around 1000 different shops until the middle of the 19th century. Before the year ’90 Korca has been a developed industrial-agricultural country due to its geographical position and the favorable climate. Nowadays the main branches of the economy are the light industry, trade as well as services. A great part of the incomes come from the emigration mainly in Greece, France and USA. The agriculture occupies the main place in economy.

In the fertile lands there are cultivated arable plants, forage crops that are used as food for animal farming, vegetables such as potatoes, beans etc. In the wooden field crops there are distinguished apples and plums. As far as the industry is concerned, Korca has the appropriate conditions for its development. These conditions are related with the great natural richness.

The food industry is very developed, represented by the factory of the processing of animal farming products. Last years is invigorated the light industry with factories of clothes and footwear, shoes etc., or with minor, familiar businesses. Craftsmanship in this region has ancient traditions; it is distinguished for the processing of wool, stone, wood, metal etc. In the course of the development of the economy an important role has played Korca’s vicinities especially Maliq where there is developed the agriculture, light industry and the production of sugar-beet, whereas Bilisht apart from agriculture is famous for the processing of the industry of fruits.

In Voskopoja, in addition to agriculture and animal farming, an important place occupies even the cultural and natural tourism. Maliq is famous for animal farming and craftsmanship. An important role in the economy of these places plays the agriculture where we can mention vegetables, forage crops, as well as the special fruits of Dardha, Voskopoja, Drenova, Bilishti etc.

All the products that these vicinities offer show a high index of the economy of the country. Another important branch of the economy its tourism, which offers the potential to attract visitors from Albania and even from abroad with its cultural monuments, its ecology, as well as its mountainous climate.
